Time to Talk Day

Today is Time to Talk Day, raising awareness of issues surrounding mental health.

The Community Trust does much work to support those with mental health issues.

The programmes include the following:

  • Active for Life, in partnership with the Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, which re-launches next Monday. This is for people who are receiving help, support and guidance from Chesterfield Community Mental Health team.
  • Spireites Football 4 Life. Weekly football sessions with the team competing against teams representing other clubs.
  • A Spire Right. A substance misuse programme, funded by Derbyshire County Council.
  • Social Prescribing. The Thr1ve programme is dedicated to providing an excellent Social Prescribing service for 11-18yr olds (19-25 with additional needs) in the Chesterfield, Bolsover and North Hardwick areas. Enabling young people to live their best life, by building confidence, independence and increased participation through individualised goal setting around what matters to them.

The café in the HUB at the Technique Stadium provides a safe environment where people are encouraged to talk about any issues, supporting Derbyshire County County’s Let’s Chat campaign.

It’s everyone’s business to help tackle stigma around mental health and suicide prevention, no matter what your role an element of mental health will come into it. Having good mental health and wellbeing as we know can really help in other aspects of a person’s life. Talking about mental health is how we create that change and culture shift. Why wait, start a conversation today about mental health.

Andrea Parkinson, the Trust’s wellbeing manager, said: “The Trust is proud of the work being done to support those people in the community who need help, support and guidance.

“We are looking forward to re-starting our Active for Life programme and working with partner organisations.”
