Success story for Male Adult Weight Management Programme

A participant in the Male Adult Weight Management Programme run by Chesterfield FC Community FC at Sheffield FC’s Dronfield home has shed over five stone!

Dave Billing, who is Sheffield FC’s head of operations, decided to take part in the programme after tipping the scales at 19st 4lbs.

He said: “I was getting really out of breath and my fitness levels were just shocking. I found out about the weight programme and I thought I’d just jump on it.”

Unstone resident Dave, 56, is delighted with the impressive progress he’s made and is full of praise for the delivery of the programme.

“I’m now 14st 3lbs. My BMI (Body Mass Index) was 41 and now it’s 29.1, so the progress has gone stratospheric. The nutritional side with Tom and Joe, with the way they explain everything, is second to none.

“Seeing the weight coming off and the totally different shape of my body gives you the impetus and the belief that you can do it. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Tom Cooke, a health & wellbeing officer from Chesterfield FC Community Trust, said: “The programme is going really well and we’ve connected with around 60 members of the public so far.

“Everyone who’s been on the programme has lost a percentage of their body weight – on average, around five kilos. Everyone has said how good the programme is.”

Chesterfield FC Community Trust partner with Derbyshire County Council to deliver the programme, which is designed to help promote healthier lifestyles and weight management.

There is no cost to sign up to the programme and there are some fantastic benefits, such as free gym membership and free match tickets to watch The World’s First Football Club.
