The gym in the HUB at the Technique Stadium is now being run by the Chesterfield FC Junior & Youth Academy and will be open once again to members of the public who wish to take out membership.
Academy manager Neil Cluxton explained the change in structure. He said: “Recently the club gym has come into the academy department.
“We’re looking to relaunch it in the near future. It’s a small and cosy gym where we know that people will feel comfortable working out.
“It will be a very supportive environment and will be great for anyone. We’re really excited for the launch and looking forward to getting it going.
“It’s a small but good facility with lots of potential that we’re looking to fulfil.”
Cluxton also explained the benefits of the gym. “It’s certainly going to be a cheap membership,” he said. “We’re looking at £10 per month, which is great pricing against other facilities.
“We’re not looking to compete with any of the big boys, but it’s a small local gym that will be cheap to use, easy to navigate and comfortable to train in.
“It’s going to be a great facility for people to enjoy training and keeping fit. We’re open from 7am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday.
“The gym has everything you would need and there will be a small team of personal trainers too for people that want them.
“We run a PT course so it’s a good opportunity for some of our academy lads to get hands-on and use their knowledge on members of the public, alongside our more experienced personal trainers too.”
Cluxton stressed that anyone is welcome at the gym, saying: “It really will be a facility for anyone.
“Whether you just want to spend more time around the club, you want to support the club or are trying to start your fitness journey – we’ll be able to help you.
“We want everyone to feel comfortable and secure at the gym, we’re looking to put up some old club memorabilia over the next few months too to spruce it up a little.
“Don’t be afraid to come down and have a chat with us. Sometimes big gyms can be a bit intimidating and we don’t want that. It will be a small facility that is comfortable to use.
“All the money raised will go into the academy which will massively help, it’s a good way of supporting our players and the reality is that the more money we have to improve our academy the more players that we’re likely to get into the first team at Chesterfield.”
The gym is located in the HUB, which is in the Karen Child Community (East) Stand.
